Please tell me someone remembers this...

Before the obsession with actives and hyper-fixation on ingredient lists, K-beauty had us buying lip tints in mini fridges, putting bubbling clay all over our faces and believing a tiny octopus was the answer to our pores?

Honestly... iconic.

REAL, not the Mandela Effect:

A Fridge for Tints?!

(Peripera Peri's Ink Velvet 🧊💋)

If you know, you know. Peripera's Ink Velvet was everywhere and for whatever reason, their marketing team decided to put it in a mini fridge.

Was it practical? Not particularly. But for one reason or another, did need a tiny, non-functional fridge? Duuh.

THE NEW ERA → BLURRED & BUTTERY ♥️🧈

Lip tints have entered their soft-girl era, with blurred edges, velvety finishes and formulas that feel more like a proper lip product than your classic tint.

The DIY Face Experiment

(Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot 🧪🥽)

Remember when doing a face mask wasn't just slapping something on and calling it self-care?

Dr. Jart+ had us mixing, shaking and MOULDING our masks at home. Skincare night? No, it's science experiment night - and the best part was getting that satisfying peel off.

THE NEW ERA → MODELING MASKS 🩵🥣

The DIY mask obsession lives on, just with slightly less chaos. Modeling packs have become the new way to get that satisfying peel-off moment at home.

That VIRAL Pore Mask

(Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask 🏜️ 🫧)

Then there was THAT bubbling face mask. Product developers really said, "Regular clay isn't exciting enough, lets make it BUBBLE."

The Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask did rounds for transforming your face into a fluffy, fizzy cloud, and we all wanted to watch our skincare work in real time.

Face mask and a movie? No. Face mask and a mirror? Sign me up.

THE NEW ERA → TARGETED PORE CARE 🔬🎯

Pore care has had a bit of a glow-up since then, with more targeted clay masks and formulas designed to tackle specific skin concerns. peel-off moment at home.

Cute-ification of Pore Sticks

(TONYMOLY Tako Pore Scrub Stick 🐙🍢)

When TONYMOLY made a pore scrub stick shaped like a takoyaki, I said say less, take my money.

Today, I have have so many questions: How did someone pitch this? Why does a little octopus snack have anything to do with pore care?

That said, I needed it. Sometimes the logic was questionable, but if the packaging was adorable, it's a yes from me.

THE NEW ERA → PORE STICKS 🌱💕

The pore stick is still going strong... the packaging has just grown up with me.

K-beauty has been through a LOT, but every era had its thing.

These trends took over our feeds, and we still remember cult favourites years later.

So, naturally, we had to go digging through the archives. Six eras. Six drops. A whole lot of K-beauty history is coming your way soon...

Let's travel back, Beauties x
