HI REVIEW: Mamonde Pore Clean Toner

by Cindy Lu

Hey Beauties!

Today we’ll be reviewing the Mamonde Pore Clean Toner! This is a product that has been around at Hikoco for years now! We usually pair it with the Mamonde Pore Clean Stick, which both act towards cleansing the skin of blackheads and other impurities such as sebum.

“PORE CLEANING TONER THAT CONTAINS BOTH EOSEONGCHO TINCTURE AND WEST COAST MUD WITH A POWERFUL ABILITY TO ABSORB SEBUM SO THE SKIN WILL LOOK MATTE, NOT OILY”

Let’s dive right into the product review 🌿

Price: $24

Quantity: 250mL

How to Use: In the morning and evening, use as the toner step after cleansing. Shake to mix the content of the product before use, then moisten a cotton pad with the toner and gently sweep over the face following the skin texture

Product Features

The toner does not have a distinct smell, texture, or appearance. Although it appears to be slightly green in the bottle, it appears clear and watery like any other toner

Don’t be alarmed when you see some dark green at the bottom, this is normal! When opening this product, ensure to SHAKE the toner as the Eoseongcho Tincture (an important ingredient for sebum!) sinks to the bottom of the bottle. ☺

Water/Aqua/Eau, Alcohol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Xylitol, Sea Silt, PPG-13-Decyltetradeceth-24, Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate, Fragrance/Parfum, Calcium Chloride, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Sucrose, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sprout Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sodium Benzoate, Indole Acetic Acid

The Mamonde toner is known as the ‘Pore Clean Toner’, it is likely to contain ingredients that help fight oiliness and sebum production. Cleansing ingredients that help with sebum production include Houttuynia Cordata Extract and Sea Silt (Natural mineral clay) as well as alcohol. Although alcohol gets a bad reputation, it is still found in skincare products to control oiliness as it prevents the production and is antimicrobial.

Although this is a cleansing toner, it also contains glycerin which is simply a star ingredient in moisturizing the skin! It also contains Oryza Sativa Extract, in other words, Rice Extract! This delivers brightening properties to the skin- However, because it is found at the lower end of the ingredients list I would say there is only a small amount of it found in the toner.

This product might be a skip for you if you also have sensitivity towards fragrance. Although the actual smell of the product is not strong, it is included in the ingredients list (and quite high up too!). This wasn’t a huge issue for me as fragrance is not a problem most of the time, but can be a problem for some!

Personal Opinion

From my 3-4 weeks, I can say that the Mamonde Pore Clean Toner definitely did it’s job as a cleansing toner by making my skin feel clean and refreshed. Although, for my skin, I didn’t see a big difference in my blackheads or pore size. Despite this, I felt like the formulation was great as with my combination-dry skin, this product didn’t feel drying at all! The cleansing ingredients such as the natural mineral clay and various extracts found in the toner are able to help with oiliness and are able to absorb excess sebum without drying out the skin. Because of this, I would highly recommend those with oily or congested skin to give this a try in their routine! However, those with inflamed acne should be cautious due to alcohol potentially irritating sensitive acne.

This is definitely a toner you would be using with a cotton pad as it would help with the cleansing process. I would not recommend using this with multiple layers due to the high amount of alcohol. I would even go as far as to suggest that for those with more dry skin to only use this product every second or third day, to control the oil production but not completely dry out the skin!

Thanks for reading Happy Shopping! ❤
