HI-REVIEW: Purito Daily Go-To Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA ++++

by Josie Williams

Hey Beauties! If you’re originally a Kiwi or Aussie kid, you must've heard the phrase “slip, slop, slap, wrap,” right? Well, the “slop” step is arguably one of the most important. Slopping on sunscreen is vital to protect our skin against sun damage, so that’s why I’m here to tell you guys all about my new holy grail sunscreen, Purito Daily Go-To Sunscreen!

I’m sure many of you have been highly anticipating and waiting for this reformulation. Rest assured, the SPF is true to label, with the formulation tested by 4 independent labs. As always, the sunscreen is cruelty free, vegan and only contains clean ingredients. This sunscreen boasts a combination of BOTH physical and mineral filters, working together to create a beautiful, lightweight hybrid formulation. The benefits are that you get the typical lightweight, non greasy texture of a chemical sunscreen - but you also get the sensitive skin-friendly aspect of a physical sunscreen (yay to the best of both worlds!).

Let’s dive into the CORE INGREDIENTS!

Our favourite natural plant ingredient, Centella Asiatica Extract! Cica helps soothe and calm all skin types including sensitive. It also greatly aids in wound healing and regeneration. The formula also contains various components of the Centella Asiatica plant. Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid are all skin-protecting, skin-conditioning ingredients. They help to strengthen your skin barrier, plus fight against external stressors and damage, all while effectively soothing the skin. Centella Asiatica and it’s components also help to naturally combat any redness, itchiness or irritations.

Broad Spectrum UV Filters

UVB filters: Ethylhexyl Triazone, Titanium Dioxide
UVA & UVB filter: Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine
UVA filter: Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate

Broad spectrum sunscreen means that the formulation provides protection against BOTH UVA rays and UVB rays. These days, almost all sunscreens in the market are broad-spectrum - but with varying levels of protection. SPF 50+ provides the highest possible protection against UVB rays - associated with sunburn. PA++++ provides the highest possible protection against UVA rays - mostly associated with skin aging and damage (e.g. hyperpigmentation). Both types can promote the development of skin cancers.

For sensitive or acne-prone skin, sometimes chemical sunscreen is not suitable because the chemical filters that absorb into the skin may be irritating. Artificial fragrances, alcohols and essential oils are also usually associated with these chemical formulas - which can irritate the skin. But not in this case, as the ingredients are EWG-safe and free from said irritants. Thus, this hybrid formula is not just suitable, but amazing for sensitive/acne-prone skin~

Personal thoughts

The formula of Purito's Daily Go-To Sunscreen is very suitable for my skin type (currently sensitive/oily). It deeply moisturizes without any greasy feeling. It's always pleasant to use, whether by itself on a no-makeup day, or underneath my makeup base. It melts beautifully into the skin - I don’t have to put much effort into rubbing it in because it spreads very easily and evenly. It does not pill like some other sunscreens, so you don't have to worry about your makeup looking disastrous.

I’m usually really generous with my sunscreen application and even after applying quite an amount, my face does not feel weighed down the slightest. It also won’t sit as a thick layer underneath your makeup. Honestly, I’ve tried it under so many of my foundations and every time it feels like it’s not even there!

Initially after applying, it does look a bit ‘shiny’ but after allowing a few minutes for it to settle in, it really does dry down and leave your face with a sheer, soft-matte finish (with no unwanted white cast!). It provides you with that natural glow from within. Post-application of a few layers of cushion foundation, my face still feels like my face (if that makes sense) - like a “my skin but better” kinda-vibe.

Overall, I would highly highly recommend this sunscreen to EVERYONE. Especially for sensitive-skinned/acne-prone beauties out there. This is also really great for dry skin as the formula is moisturising without being overly thick. In saying that, I’m an oily-skinned gal, yet my face miraculously does not turn greasy throughout the day. It really does live up to the hype and more! I hope you all get to try out this top-tier sunscreen and I really hope you love it as much as I do. As the name suggests, this is definitely gonna be my go-to this summer!

Thank you for reading, stay safe!
