By default, this product is not simply a moisturizer. The texture of this product is quite thick as it is a ‘balm’. It is a great occlusive product which can be used for sealing in moisture but it is not as thick as other occlusive balms such as vaseline or aquaphor. I would compare the texture to COSRX Ceramide Cream, which is a cream on the thicker side that spreads nicely on the skin. This allows it to be used as a cream OR a balm depending on your skin type! It applies thickly but dries the skin fast leaving the skin nicely hydrated and soft afterwards.
Personally, I love to use this product as an addition to my current moisturizer - especially in this winter time! Although it has more ‘natural’ ingredients, I didn’t notice any particular fragrance in this product :)
Water, Propanediol, Squalane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Panthenol, Betaine, Trehalose, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Centella Asiatica Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Polyglyceryl-2 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Cetearyl Glucoside, Stearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Olivate, Stearic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Myristic Acid, Oleic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Trideceth-10, Dipropylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Pentylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol
There are a huge range of hydrating ingredients found in this repair balm. Ingredients such as squalene, glycerin, panthenol, and betaine are some of the highest concentrated ingredients in this balm, but are also known to be great calming and hydrating agents. Panthenol especially being known for wound healing, anti-inflammatory and great for the skin barrier. On top of this, there are 5 different forms of hyaluronic acid which are able to deeply hydrate and revitalize dry skin.
There are also a range of natural ingredients such as Centella Asiatica, Tea tree extract and Honeysuckle flower which are extracts that provide skin-soothing benefits :) Not only that, but these are known ingredients used for acne healing as well!
There are a chockload of ingredients so I would recommend taking a peak if you are sensitive to specific ingredients. There are no drying alcohols and fragrances which is great for sensitive skin but there is Shea Butter which could be a concern for those with super oily skin. But keep in mind this product is not meant to be applied heavily in the first place!
This product works great as an occlusive cream, it would be considered a lightweight balm texture. This means that it is best to apply this product at night, after all essences, serums and even other creams to lock in the moisture from all those products. This product would be best used by those with dry or combination skin but can be used by all skin types.
I loved using this product during the winter! I had a lot of dry patches while I was testing this product and it would clear up my dry patches within a few days which was great :) Personally, I would only use this product all over the skin at night due to the heavy texture. Typically in the daytime we tend to sweat and produce more oil, thus applying all over the face could result in clogged pores. During the day I would suggest applying it in certain areas that you know will need extra hydration instead!
