Men's K-Haircut Trends in 2022 💇🏻‍♂️

Leaf Cut

In Korea, there’s an increasing number of men who are starting to grow their hair long. Mid-way in their journey of getting a man-bun, it’s difficult to keep the hair stylish in an awkward length. That’s when they go for the Leaf Cut style, with a very soft perm just on the hair front. This hairstyle is only possible when the fringe falls below the eyes, and the back of the hair slightly covers the back of the neck. The fringe is parted in the centre, falling onto the sides with a soft curl. With the haircut being gender-neutral, many girls tend to go for the Leaf Cut as well when they want to try a shorter hairstyle!

Shadow Perm

This mid to long hairstyle has been trending ever since Choi Woo-shik’s appearance in Our Beloved Summer as Choi Woong. Let’s face it. Guys with soft curly hair is everyone’s weak point, and Choi Woo-shik nailed it without even trying 🙄 The hair is layered into two parts, curly top and the straight sides & back. To emphasise the perm, it’s almost a must to down perm the side and the back to straighten and fix them downwards. One thing to note about the Shadow Perm style is that if you completely dry the hair with a dryer, it may make the hair look frizzy. You should only dry the hair a third way, apply a curl cream, and let the rest dry naturally for bouncy and silky curls.

Crop Cut

Here’s another short haircut that was loved in the 2021-22 F/W season. Crop Cut has actually been trending for quite a while now, also known as the Park Seroi Cut (Itaewon Class reference!). Similar to the Ivy League Cut, you cut the sides and the back much shorter than the top of the hair. However, rather than styling the top front with a hair wax, Crop Cut requires a down perm on the top and on the fringe as well. Since the hair covers the forehead flat, this haircut suits well for those with a longer face structure than the classic Ivy League cut. It also has a more put together and calm mood to it, for those who prefer a formal style.
