Welcome to the Big Smoke! Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we’ll loosely plan your day for you - there’s so much to do, see and eat. Get ready for a week dedicated to exploring! Stumble on hidden gems and experience the city like a local (Feb-March edition).

Monday

Explore the CBD

You gotta throw yourself into it! Start by wandering through the heart of it all - Lorne Street's got great spots to kick off your day, with plenty of tasty eats and cool finds stretching to High Street. From there, explore Britomart and make your way around Wynyard Quarter! Take at least the day to explore, you never know where your day will take you.

The Tuning Fork’s Monday Music Quiz

Right next to Spark Arena, The Tuning Fork is not just for gigs! Go check out the fortnightly Monday Music Quiz. There’s no entry fee and you get the chance to win tickets to events at The Tuning Fork or Spark Arena. Three teams will be crowned winners scoring a music lover's dream prize!

Tuesday

Explore Karangahape Road (K Road)

K Road is one of Auckland's most vibrant roads, bustling with culture and energy! It’s too unique to group with the CBD (Monday's itinerary). You could easily spend your full day to night here! Named one of the “World’s Coolest Streets in 2022” by Time Out, it’s also Auckland’s main LGBTQ+ district, you just know it pops off! Make sure to shop Crushes and have a drink at Achos

HI-SO Rooftop Bar - Champagne & Oysters Sundowners

Feeling a bit bougie? Get golden hour ready and head 16 floors above the city for some champagne and oysters! No need to book either, just swing by between 3-6PM after your day spent exploring K Road.

Wednesday

Sunrise Yoga at Queens Wharf

Start your morning with a stunning sunrise over the Waitematā Harbour. This mid-week flow will leave you refreshed, centred and ready to take on the rest of your week. BYO yoga mat and let the calm energy of the waterfront set the tone for your day. This is on every Wednesday 7AM until the 11th of March!

Food Truck Wednesdays at Takutai Square

After a nice stretch and taking in the sunrise, head down to Quay St and stop by Takutai Square for a mid-week treat brought to you by the Food Truck Collective! From 12-2PM check out their rotating lineup of trucks, there’s always something new to try and keep an eye out on their socials for the latest menu updates and to see where they’ll be popping up next! 

Thursday

Music in Parks - After Work Special

End your work day on a high and boogie as the sun sets! Grab your friends or workmates and head to Aotea Square on 20th Feb for a 4PM session. With an early 7PM wrap-up, you can enjoy some mid-week fun without throwing off your flow for the rest of the week! It’s easy on the pockets too - free entry!

Last Thursday Markets

Tucked just off K Road, Celestial Corner is bringing a vibrant monthly market to the Ellen Melville Centre. On the last Thursday of every month from 4-7:30PM, immerse yourself in a celebration of creative culture!

Friday

Lunchtime Drop-In Drawing

Happen to be in the CBD during lunch? Take a creative break at the Art Gallery to sharpen your sketching and observation skills! Just bring a pad and some pencils, grab a stool, find a space and get inspired. With a life model and a tutor on hand, you’ll get the guidance you need to bring your artwork to life. There’s no pressure, just fun!

Drinks and Nibbles

Round off your Friday with a drink in hand, great conversation and something delicious to snack on! Auckland’s food scene never disappoints. Want a sunset rooftop? Head to Darling on Drake or Sunset Bar for spectacular views! Or ease yourself into the weekend at Hotel Ponsonby for a lively courtyard atmosphere. 

Saturday

Carnaval Latino Market

On select Saturdays each month from 10AM-3PM, the Carnaval Latino comes alive, celebrating the Latin-American community! This inclusive space is all about sharing culture, traditions, music and food - bringing people together in the true spirit of community. Come along and soak up the energy!

Britomart Saturday Market

Every Saturday from 8AM-2PM, Takutai Square transforms into a bustling market filled with everything you could possibly dream of. From fresh flowers and juice bars to biltong, jewellery and handcrafted artisan goods - there is something for everyone! This is a must-visit for local treasures.

Sunday

New Pocket Park at Hobson Wharf

A hidden gem overlooking the Waitematā Harbour! Follow the path behind the Maritime Museum, and you’ll find a cosy waterfront spot, perfect for relaxing, playing and taking in the views. Channel your inner kid on the giant seesaws, feel the fresh ocean breeze, or settle on the steps with your lunch. A peaceful escape right in the heart of the city!

Silo Park Market

End off the week with the hustle and bustle of a night market! Soak in waterfront views and wander around food stalls galore. From the smoky aroma of BBQ lingering to the sizzling woks, there’s nothing better than this - your eyes will be hungrier than your tummy! Head to Silo Park from 3-10PM for a feast.
