HI-REVIEW: DERMA NATURE FRESH BLACKHEAD JOJOBA CLEANSING OIL

by Kate Garside

To all my combo/oily skin beauties out there, raise your hand if you’ve ever been too scared to try using oil cleanser 🙋

Putting any kind of oil near your face can seem really scary when you struggle with oily or combination skin, but not all oils will leave you looking as shiny as the sun! For the past month I've been reviewing the Celimax Derma Nature Fresh Blackhead Jojoba Cleansing Oil, and let me tell you, as someone who struggles with combo skin, this cleansing oil is one you definitely won’t want to miss out on!

Key Features

Price: $23

Quantity: 150ml

How to use:

  1. Pump the oil 3~4 times on your dry hand.
  2. Gently massage 1 to 2 minutes on where you want to dissolve the makeup or blackheads. (or gently use tips of fingernails for visible blackhead)
  3. Rinse with water thoroughly.

I’ve always been a bit cautious when using oils. As someone with combo skin it can be really easy to upset the balance of my skin and usually whenever I use oils my skin throws a bit of a tantrum that can take a couple of weeks to calm down, but I was pleasantly surprised with this cleanser!

Looking through the ingredients there are a whole lot of natural oils in this cleanser, some of the main ones being Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit oil (also known as Bergamot oil), Meadowfoam oil, Jojoba oil and then a whole heap of other nourishing oils. These oils work so well together to create the ultimate hydrating cleanser without leaving your skin feeling oily at all.

Personal Experience

I LOVE this cleanser! For years i’ve been a foam cleanser kind o’ gal, as oil cleansers honestly aren’t usually my favourite, due to them normally not rinsing off properly and leaving a strange film on my skin when i’ve finished washing my face. But let me tell you, this cleansing oil is a game changer!

It easily removes make-up (including waterproof mascara and matte lipstick) and it also cuts through oilier products such as sunscreen without issue! I like to use this at the end of the day to remove my daily make-up and it’s so easy to use. One pump is more than enough for my entire face and all I do is gently massage it into my skin for about 20 - 30 seconds and it melts away all the product on my face without me having to scrub at anything.

I will mention that you need to be a little careful near your eyes as this cleanser is quite thin in texture (think, watery-thin!) and it glides very easily, meaning it can be easy to accidentally get this in your eyes if you’re not careful. If you do end up getting it in your eyes (like I've done) it’s really easy to rinse out and it doesn't irritate my eyes at all.

After using this cleansing oil I usually follow up with a standard, non-oil, cleanser to fully remove any product residue but if you don’t wear a lot of product you could easily just use this as your only cleanser. It’s also scent-free which is great for those beauties with sensitive skin or sensitive eyes!

This product has put cleansing oils back on my radar, and into my routine! And I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for other Celimax products to try out in the future!
