I do love getting a facial peel every now and again at my favourite spa as they’re great at helping with improving fine lines and uneven skin tone. So I was very excited to discover the Ma:nyo Galactomy Enzyme Peeling Gel, a recent addition to HIKOCO.

The Ma:nyo Galactomy Enzyme Peeling Gel is a soft peeling gel that promises not to irritate sensitive skin by using enzymes to help soothe and form a healthy skin barrier after ‘peeling’.

How to use: 

After cleansing, apply an appropriate amount to dry skin, except eyes and lips. Gently massage in a rolling motion to remove dead skin cells. Rinse thoroughly with water.

There are four ingredients highlighted in this product, the first one being Ma:nyo’s Galactomyces Fermentation Filtrate. Galactomyces is a naturally derived yeast that’s used when brewing sake! When used in skincare products, Galactomyces assists with product absorption and also has antioxidant properties.

Studies have also shown that Galactomyces allows skin’s epidermal cells to produce hyaluronic acid, meaning it has wonderful moisturising properties. It also helps remove dead skin cells, balance oil and moisture levels to prevent large pores.

Obviously, another standout feature of this product is its use of enzymes. Rather than harsh physical exfoliants, the fruit-derived enzymes are able to very gently remove dead skin cells. 

You'll also find Aquaxyl and Hyaluronic Acid, which are a godsend for dry and dehydrated skin! Both known for their ability to boost hydration levels in the skin means this gel can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles too. 

Personal Review

I’m not exaggerating when I say this peeling gel works wonders. The first time I used this peel I was almost speechless!

The gel has a light fresh smell to it that was a welcome surprise, as some peels I’ve tried smell quite chemically. I applied a generous amount and started to massage the gel into my skin as the instructions said. The gel starts to roll immediately and it only takes a couple of minutes to work this into your skin, and remove dead skin cells. I was really surprised at how much was removed! 

After rinsing my face well, my skin felt and looked noticeably smoother. I followed with my usual evening skincare products, and by morning my skin was glowing - it looked hydrated and a little clearer too.

A couple of days after first using the peel I did have a few little breakouts on my cheeks though they weren’t too bad and cleared by the end of the week.  I’ve been using the peel once a week and have found this is a good amount of exfoliation for my skin as it hasn’t caused any redness or irritation, and I haven’t had any more breakouts since.

After incorporating this peeling gel into my skincare routine for the last month, I've noticed a significant improvement in the overall texture and tone of my skin. This is seriously such a great product, I’ve been raving about the Ma:nyo Galactomy Enzyme Peeling Gel to my mum and friends! It’s quickly become a necessity in my skincare lineup, so this is 100% worth trying if you're in search of a gentle and effective exfoliating treatment.
