Product Features
This sleeping pack features a trio of effective ingredients designed to create a barrier to prevent moisture loss, while repairing and soothing the skin.
One of the three main ingredients is the ever-popular Centella Asiatica extract. This herbal extract has been used for thousands of years in Asia to treat wounds and its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-aging properties make it a wonder ingredient in skincare.
Squalene is another key ingredient, which strengthens the skin barrier. Squalene is an oily compound naturally found in our bodies, as well as in animals and plants. As you age, the amount of squalene decreases, so adding it to your skincare can help to increase the moisture levels as well as the restorative capabilities of your skin.
The third main ingredient is Ceramide NP. Ceramide NP is one of several types of ceramides found naturally in the upper layer of our skin. It has excellent water retention properties and also helps to strengthen the skin barrier against external stressors like weather and pollution.
Together, this powerful trio forms the basis of this fragrance-free, non-irritating formula, making it suitable for all skin types, especially those with sensitive, dry skin.
Personal Experience
I’ve mentioned this in my previous blogs, but I love great packaging and believe it adds luxury to the whole skincare experience. I really like the sleek purple tube the sleeping mask comes in. I don’t see a lot of purple in skincare products so it was nice to have a pop of colour on my countertop.
As I have sensitive, dry and acne prone skin (what a combo, right), I always love anything with centella asiatica extract in it, because it hydrates and helps to prevent and soothe breakouts. It was also nice to know that the other two main ingredients are compounds that are naturally found in the skin, so I felt really comfortable trying it on my sensitive skin.
My first impression was that the texture is light, but I could also feel it sitting on my skin like a thin film, yet it wasn’t sticky, oily or heavy at all. I liked the idea of sealing all the moisture in with a protective layer so all the other skincare products can get to work underneath.
After just the first night, I could notice a difference straight away. Washing the mask off in the morning, my skin felt plump and was really nice and smooth. It’s always awesome to see fast results!
What I didn’t expect was to notice my skin actually feeling firmer in the morning as well. The product hasn’t claimed anti-aging to be one of its main benefits so I was really pleasantly surprised by those results. As a sleep-deprived mum of an active toddler, I have noticed some fine lines appearing and my skin just looking more tired. Anything that makes me look like I’ve had more sleep than I’ve actually had, is a winner for me.
With sleeping packs, you’re only supposed to apply it 2-3 times a week, however with this one I loved how it felt on my skin and the results so much I’ve been using it every night. I figured my dry skin could probably use the extra moisture so I just use a small amount (to overwhelm my skin) at the last step of my skin care every night. Three weeks on, I’m still really loving it.
I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to try a hydrating, gentle and protective sleeping mask. This pretty little purple tube of goodness is definitely worth a try - it was love at first sight for me and I hope it is the same for you too.
