by Hinako Percival

Hi Beauties!

I hope everyone is enjoying themselves as the days get warmer! I’ve been trying the Round Lab Pine Tree Calming Cica Ampoule over the past month and am here to share my experience. I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing the products from the Pine Tree line by Round Lab everywhere, so I was excited to finally try it out.

Price: $32

Quantity: 30ml

How to use: Apply an appropriate amount after lightly cleansing, until fully absorbed across the whole face.

KEY FEATURES

Before we get to my experience, let’s talk about the ingredients and what this product is good for.

The Round Lab Pine Tree Calming Cica Ampoule claims to improve skin barrier as well as calm and hydrate the skin.

At the heart of this product is ‘Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract’, also known as the pine extract from the Yangyang pine tree. Yangyang pine trees are evergreen trees found in Gangwon-do, South Korea. Only the fallen leaves from these Yangyang pine trees are used in the Round Lab Pine Cica line of products. This means that the trees are left undamaged and untouched. This is really on brand for Round Lab as they are known to prioritise sustainability.

These collected leaves are then put through low-temperature ultrasonic extraction. This process allows for all the natural benefits of the pine to be preserved in the final product. These benefits include; protecting the skin from dry wind, temperature changes, ultra-fine dust particles and can protect our skin from the burning sensation you might feel from UV radiation.

Hydration in the skin is improved from the triple hyaluronic acid contained in the product. This means that it contains varying molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid to maximise hydration effects on our skin.

What differentiates the Pine Tree line of products  to other Round Lab calming products is the gentle non-irritating chemical exfoliant LHA. LHA will help soften your skin texture and help remove dead skin cells while tackling clogged pores.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I found that this ampoule was easily absorbed into my skin and was very gentle. I enjoyed the texture a lot and I found my dry skin softer and more hydrated afterwards. This is likely to be due to the hydration from hyaluronic acid and the gentle exfoliation of LHA incorporated in this product.

Aside from my skin feeling softer, I found this product very similar to my usual hyaluronic acid serum. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for my dry skin, but this did mean I didn’t experience much of the calming effects of the pine extract. This might be because I didn’t experience much inflammation or rapid changes in my environment this past month. So overall I can’t really have a say on the calming effects of this ampoule.

After reading into other people’s experience of this product, many people claimed that they experienced the most benefits when paired with the matching Pine Cica Cream by Round Lab. I personally haven’t had a chance to try this cream out, but for those of you looking specifically for products with calming properties I would definitely recommend trying both products out together.

Even though I didn’t notice the calming effects, I did enjoy the Round Lab Pine Tree Calming Cica Ampoule. It was gentle and hydrating for my dry skin. If you are someone with sensitive skin, this product may work really well for you. Round Lab is known to make very gentle products and on top of that they also prioritise sustainability.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
