HI-REVIEW: TIAM Pore Minimising 21 Serum

by Kate Garside

Whenever I see anything being advertised as “Pore Minimising” I automatically roll my eyes. I feel like I have the world's largest pores that just won’t shrink and every product I try just leaves me disappointed - anyone else relate?

So when I started trying out the Pore Minimising 21 Serum I was a little skeptical, but Oh. My. Gosh. Beauties, we’ve hit the jackpot!

Price: $37

Quantity: 40ml

How to use: After toning, take an appropriate amount and apply evenly on the face.

If using in the morning, please wear SPF. Contains high concentration of Niacinamide. For first time users, please adjust your amount of product you use after a skin patch test.

This serum contains a HUGE 20% concentration of Niacinamide. Niacinamide is a must-have for anyone wanting to look after their skin. It’s the active form of vitamin B3, which is known for its ability to help increase the production of Ceramides (they help strengthen your skin and also help it retain moisture!). It also can help reduce redness, such as decolouration and rosacea. On top of that, it also helps regulate sebum (oil) production and it’s anti-inflammatory, meaning it’s great for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

The 1% Zinc PCA also plays an important part in making this serum as effective as it is. Zinc PCA is a fab ingredient to look out for in skincare as it has astringent properties (it helps tighten pores and dry out oil). It’s also anti-microbial meaning it can help to prevent the growth of any microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi or viruses. This is great for those of us trying to prevent or combat acne.

On top of those two amazing ingredients it also contains a whole bunch of other skin-loving goodies. Such as Glycerin (extremely moisturising), Salix Alba (anti-inflammatory), Sodium Hyaluronate (part of the Hyaluronic Acid family - SUPER moisturising) and Butylene Glycol (improves softness and texture of skin). All these ingredients combined make this the ultimate serum for amazing skin.

The serum itself is very watery and has no scent, making it great for sensitive skin beauties! A little goes a long way and 4 drops will cover my entire face with a nice even layer of serum.

Personal Experience

I tried this serum every day for almost a month, and the change in my skin is incredible. When I first started using it I was dealing with a mini breakout around my hairline. When using the serum I focused on massaging it in around the breakout and on my T-zone, where I get the oiliest. After only 2 days the breakout started to subside and over the next week I noticed that I was no longer feeling oily in the afternoons (even though it was ridiculously hot outside), and even after gym sessions my skin felt less oily and greasy.

The serum also lives up to its claims of reducing the appearance of pores. Pores can’t actually shrink (unfortunately), but the appearance of them can be reduced and that’s exactly what this serum did! The pores on my T-zone appear half the size of what they used to be, which is a huge deal for me, and the pores on the rest of my face appear almost non-existent!

Overall this serum lives up to its claims. It’s soothing and hydrating, whilst combatting large pores and oiliness. This serum is great for all skin types and if you suffer from oily skin, enlarged pores or acne, you need to add this serum to your collection.

It’s a must-have!
