How to Care for Chapped Lips 👄

Hi Beauties 💗

Today we’re going to be talking all about LIPS and how to take care of them. Taking care of your lips is important for both men and women! Firstly, I’ll explain why it is so important to take care of your lips 👄

The skin on our lips is much thinner than the skin on any other parts of our body, making them extremely vulnerable to cracks and chaps. Our lips also have lesser amounts of oil glands and do not have the ability to create melanin (a skin pigment that has been proven to protect the skin from UV rays). This means that they have no protection of their own. It is important to take care of your lips all year round as cold weather🥶,dry air, sun☀️, and wind💨,can all damage them.

However, be aware as over application of products on your lips can cause small spots to start appearing as the product prevents your lips from producing its own oils😔

What NOT to do ❌

👄 Never lick your lips - licking your lips actually dries them out even more as saliva contains digestive enzymes that wear the lips skin down

👄 Never pick at your lips if they’re flaky - this can lead to sores on your lips, bleeding or even infections

👄 Never use expired lip products - old lip products have the tendency to grow bacteria

👄 Never leave lipsticks/lip tints on overnight - this will result in dryness and chapping

What TO do ✅

👄Apply lip balm daily - this acts as a protective layer to your lips preventing damage from wind, cold weather etc.

👄Stay hydrated - your lips need moisture just as much as your skin!

👄Keep lips hydrated overnight using a lip sleeping mask - when we are sleeping we do not know that our lips are drying out so it is crucial to apply a sleeping mask to prevent cracks in the morning

👄 Follow a healthy diet plan - a good diet rich in vitamins and other nutrients will help create healthy looking lips

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm #Berry

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm #Grapefruit

-For daily use

👄 Allows matte lipsticks to apply on better

👄 Provides moisture to make lips supple and elastic

I recommend this product because it can be used daily and it can be a cute addition to your makeup pouch 😉 it comes in two scents: grapefruit and berry. It keeps your lips moisturised throughout the day, however you must re-apply this product!

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask #Berry

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask #Grapefruit

-For night time use

👄 Gently melts away dead skin cells from the lips

👄 Rich in vitamin C

A product that is always sold out at HIKOCO! I recommend getting in quick as this product usually sells out so fast, and although I haven’t used it myself I have heard many great things from friends around me who have tried it. I’ve been told that it smells and feels good on the lips, leaves the lips soft and moisturised in the morning and I’ve even heard people describe it as their ‘holy grail’ 🤩

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Scrub

- Use 1-3 times weekly

👄 Rich in shea butter and acts as an exfoliator

This is another product that I haven’t used before, but it is good to use 1-3 times weekly to prevent chapped lips. After application gently massage the product onto your lips, then rinse with water or tissue. This product should help with flaky skin cells on your lips.

Last but not least the product I’m currently using! ⬇️⬇️

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Mask

-For night time use

👄 Contains shea butter and sugar

👄 Prevents flaking by hydrating lips

👄 Thick texture for extra hydration

Personally the texture is a bit too thick for me, but after using it once the results were amazing. The shea butter and sugar really prevent my lips from getting flaky and leaves them shiny/moisturised in the morning. Don’t forget to slowly rub off the mask when you wake up to see full effects!

Here are my results from the Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Mask!

If you have dry, chapped lips you will be able to see the results in a few days! But keep in mind that the moment you stop taking care of them, the faster they’ll return to being dry and chapped😔  This is why it is important to add lip care into your daily skin care routine!

That’s all for today~🥰

Stay safe beauties, and don’t forget to take care of your lips🤩
