HI-REVIEW: COSRX Low pH BHA Overnight Mask

안녕 Beauties~

How is everyone’s skincare journeys going? Today, I’ll be telling you guys about a product which I find is pretty underrated among our Beauties 😱To be honest, I didn’t pay too much attention to it either, but now that I’ve tried Cosrx’s Low PH BHA Overnight Mask, it’s safe to say that this product is going to be a permanent addition to my nighttime skincare routine! 🌙

Price: $26

Quantity: 50ml

Product description:

“Low PH BHA Overnight Mask polishes away dullness and reveals your soft skin during the night.”

How to use:

Apply proper amount of cream evenly on face.

For daytime usage, follow up with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF30 or greater.

HI-TIP! 💓

  • Do NOT use BHA products if you are allergic to aspirin.
  • Must be used with sunscreen in daylight.
  • Do NOT use BHA Overnight Mask with any other highly concentrated AHA, BHA or Vitamin C products.
  • Patch-test if you have sensitive skin and are concerned about specific ingredients, as this mask does include palm/palm kernel oils

As per usual, I tried this out over the course of four weeks. I wasn’t the most thrilled at first, as I do have combination-oily skin and have always avoided night creams/sleeping masks because of their thick and heavy textures. However, this mask really upped my skincare game and I didn’t have to put in any extra effort at all!

The key ingredients in this mask that you need to note of are:

  • Centella Asiatica Leaf Water 50.0% – soothes and calms the skin
  • Betaine Salicylate (BHA) 0.9% – an oil-soluble active that is able to clear dissolve oil in pores
  • Niacinamide – brightening effects
  • Lactic Acid (AHA) – a water-soluble active that loosens bonds of surface dead skin cells to gently exfoliate them away
  • Tea Tree Leaf Oil – anti-inflammatory effects

I find the packaging really convenient and user-friendly. It comes in a soft matte tube (which I much prefer over tubs as tubs are more messy/less hygienic), and there was a foil seal over the opening too! This sort of packaging does make the product squeeze out very easily, so be careful not to over-squeeze.

Formula-wise, it is a white, balm-like cream that is dense but melts down really nicely into the skin. The texture reminds me of the Cosrx Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream - I know a lot of you Beauties own one of those - but softer and slightly thicker! It also carries a mild medicinal scent which, I’m guessing, comes from the Centella 🌿 People who dislike herbal scents might not enjoy this but I got over it pretty quickly!

The amount above is how much I pack onto my entire face in the PM. Though it was my first time trying out a moisturiser of such heavy texture, I made sure I still applied it after my toner + essence + serum to ensure that I’m giving my skin all the moisture it needs during this dry winter season 🌬️

After using this nightly for only 2 weeks, my skin already seemed softer and plumper! ✨I think it does such a wonderful job at sealing in hydration to prevent water loss. I love not waking up to tight skin, though the mask does just rest on the surface of your skin all night (like all overnight masks do), which means it would be ideal to not move around too much in your sleep 😹

I had slight hopes that the mask would calm my redness down a little because of the high quantity of Centella, however it didn’t do much, which I’m totally fine with as “soothing/calming” was not stated in the product description.

It did not irritate my skin one bit; I don’t have super sensitive skin, but the 0.9% of BHA makes it a pleasant, gently-exfoliating moisturiser for any skin type

PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

I thoroughly enjoy using this overnight mask and will continue to use it every night. Just note that the percentage of BHA in this sleeping mask is too low to give any drastic results, so don’t expect an overnight skin transformation! It’s more of a highly moisturizing product to maintain your skin if it is generally clear and is NOT meant to eradicate serious breakouts

I like this mask because it is different from other overnight masks I’ve seen that purely hydrates, as it helps fight any active acne that might be forming while I sleep. Also considering how affordable this product is, I think it is definitely worth checking out!

Go be beautiful and I’ll see you back here next month! Let’s be pretty!! 🌈

Sadly they discontinued this product (it changed my skin so much I was sad) but I was looking and saw they released a product called the Centella Blemish Cream and it’s ingredient list almost exactly the same! I think the only difference was that the blemish cream doesn’t have bees wax I think. (Making it vegan now too I think).

    Hi Devika!

Unfortunately, COSRX has discontinued the product entirely 😢.
Hope we’ll get an even better overnight mask launched by COSRX soon! 💕
