HI-REVIEW: I'm From Rice Toner 🌾

Hi Beauties! Hope everyone is doing well

I’m super excited that we are now stocking the I’m From Rice Toner at HIKOCO (as well as the Rice Mask!). I’ve been a big fan of skincare containing rice such as the COSRX Rice Overnight Nourishing Mask - I’m especially hyped because this toner is from I’m From, a company that is mindful and conscientious of the ingredients in their products.

The rice is grown and sourced exclusively from Yeoju, Korea which is renowned for producing high quality rice. The brand I’m From promises for “Honest Skincare” which includes ingredients from high quality farms, ingredient transparency, as well as skincare free of harsh chemicals.

“This toner is made with 77.78% Rice Extract effective in whitening and elasticity care. The product forms a protective barrier over the skin to prevent water loss, eliminate dead skin cells and provide luster and moisturization to rebalance dry and tired skin”

I will dive right into the nitty-gritty of this product and lay out whether this product is right for you :)

Price: $41

Quantity: 150ml / 5.07 fl oz.

Product Features: ✓ Alcohol Free | ✓ Cruelty Free | ✓ Fragrance Free

The most important feature about this product is that you MUST shake the toner lightly before using it to ensure that the emulsion and water layer mix thoroughly! The formulation of this product causes separation within, however this is perfectly normal :)

The toner is not viscous at all and reminds me of milk with the white watery appearance. However in saying that it does provide moisture to the skin especially when patted in. This toner also does not contain any essential oils or fragrances which is always great.

It’s important to note that the packaging is made out of plastic, not glass like their other products. This makes the product easier to travel with and less likely to be smashed - however on the flip side, it is less eco-friendly and feels less luxurious. Whether the plastic packaging is good or bad - entirely a personal preference.

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract (77.78%), Methylpropanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Portulaca Oleracea (Green Purslane) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Water, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol

This product contains a whopping 77.78% of Oryza Sativa (Rice) extract as well as 0.1% of Oryza Sativa bran extract- but what does that mean for your skin?

  • It is rich in essential amino acids such as lysine. These amino acids help promote hydration and contribute to smoother skin.
  • Rich source of multiple antioxidants such as ferulic acid, Vitamin E, and gamma oryzanol. Antioxidants are great for preventing wrinkles, pigmentation and damage from UV rays
  • Bran extract provides light exfoliation to the skin, promoting skin turnover and brightening

This toner also contains other ingredients such as niacinamide, the 5th ingredient highest concentration. Niacinamide is a superstar ingredient that fortifies the skin in more ways than one; it helps to brighten skin complexion, reduce pigmentation, and minimizing pores.

Personal Thoughts

Overall, this product is able to serve well for most people from oily to dry skin! So far, it has done all that it claims to do, but it is especially exceptional if you’re looking for a toner that delivers glow, hydration and plumpness to the skin. Although I really enjoyed the finish of the Rice Toner, I was not able to use it when I had irritated skin as it caused my skin to become even more sensitive due to the exfoliating properties. Another thing to keep note is that this Rice Toner is not likely to improve active acne breakouts!

For any beauties who are curious to how it compares to the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner, which is another toner that has a very similar appearance, it is quite different in function. They both provide moisture, however the Cream Skin delivers INTENSE hydration, almost leaving an oily residue after application but also soothes the skin. The Rice Toner provides hydration but will absorb nicely into the skin, leaving no residue and also lightly exfoliating and brightening the skin.

This toner is a great fit for most skin types as mentioned earlier! However everyone should be aware that this toner will not fulfil every single box. These ingredients are great for people with dull, dehydrated skin as well as those who are looking for a skin prepping toner to fit their anti-aging regimen. However for those who have more sensitive and irritated skin, I would suggest to be more cautious as this product is not made for soothing but for brightening and hydrating.

Thank you for reading until this far! Stay comfy <3

Thanks for the information about the difference between the I’m From and Laneige Cream. I am prone to rosacea and love the laneige cream but find the slight oily finish doesn’t work well with makeup so only use it at home. I’m Fom Rice offers an alternative.
