We’re spicing things up a little and today I’ll be writing about a very popular trend in skincare world - ✨ glass skin ✨ (and how to achieve it, so keep reading 😗)
I first heard of this term back in 2017 when an article written about influencer Ellie Choi went viral and my friend sent it to me, saying that I would suit the “glass skin” look and I should attempt to attain it by curating my skincare routine more, as I was still being quite random with my choice of products at that time.
So what is glass skin? It’s a name used for clear, luminous, and seemingly transparent skin. In Ellie Choi’s photos, she looks poreless and dewy, and her skin has a very natural sheen to it 🌟
Within the years 2018-2019, all that matte/rougher texture on my skin started to melt away and I managed to successfully get a glowy radiance to really show through my skin. It was like I had a natural highlighter on, and my skin looked so plump and healthy! My No.1 tip: switching to gel-type skincare products (e.g. using a gel cream instead of a thick moisturiser) are key! Here’s a before and after:
2017 | 2018 | 2019
These days, the concept of “cream skin” is starting to become a thing too - this technique of getting a milky 🍼 and glowy 💫 look is more focused on softening, hydration absorption. Since I don’t have a naturally thin/translucent skin surface, I thought combining both “glass” and “cream” would be the perfect fit for me!
I’ve selected my top 3 products, which are all available on the Hikoco website, that allows me to have clear-as-glass skin all year round 💎
After layering these products on top of each other, you should get a pretty “cream glow”, as I describe it, like shown:
Finally, here are the most recent photos of my skin! Besides the occasional hormonal pimple, my skin has been very clear and I’m proud that all the hard work and careful selection of mists and essences paid off 😇 Some final tips for you guys: remember to do gentle exfoliating 2-3 times a week, and stay hydrated daily by drink plenty of water as well! 💧
Good luck and keep glowing Beauties 🤩 See you back here next time~
Hi Zoey, whats the exact step by step procedure using the 3 products above to achieve the glow? Thanks
Hi Zoey, what moisturiser would you recommend from Hikoco for achieving glass skin? :) I have quite dry skin so I’m unsure if a gel cream would be moisturising enough for me
Hey Anon, it’s fine to use these products day and night! However, I recommend to exfoliate with the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid only up to 3x a week (preferably at night, as your skin renews itself overnight).
Hi Sheila, I highly recommend the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence Sunscreen! It’s so lightweight that it almost feels like there’s nothing on your skin. Its ingredients are generally safe for sensitive skin types (with the exception of citrus oil) :)
Hey! I would love to try this out! Just wondering when would be the best time to use this routine within the 8 steps?
What sunscreen do you use? I have a oily, sensitive and acne prone skin. I tried most of the sunscreen but can’t find a better one that won’t make my face very oily. Any recommendations?
Hey Kai :) I have oily-combination skin but all these products work super well for dry skin too, especially the Laneige Cream Skin range!
Yes, you can do this routine before makeup but I suggest exfoliating using the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid at night.
Hi there, thank you so much! I can’t guarantee that this will work for ages 50+ as I am in my 20s – there definitely are other skincare ingredients (e.g. collagen) that are more suited for your age and skin type :)
Yes, I wear sunblock everyday.
I have genetically large pores but I make sure to exfoliate so that they are clean and minimised 24/7!
I don’t need to wear foundation as I don’t need something that’s too high coverage, however I do put on BB cream whenever I go out just to cover up redness around the nose and cheeks :)
Hey Halle! I use the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser and I exfoliate with the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid (as shown above) and sometimes with the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze – my favourite for glass skin is the lemon one :)
Hi Emma! I do chemical exfoliating twice a week, sometimes with the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid (as shown above) and sometimes with the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze – my favourite for glass skin is the lemon one :)
Hi there! I love your skin! I have dry skin and I wear makeup all the time so will this be okay to apply before makeup? Or just during non-makeup days? thank you!
love your skin!! 😍
will it work for women age 50 and above?
do you put on sunblock?
do you have large pores like mine?
do you wear foundation on top?
What cleanser do you use and what exfoliation ? Thank you !
What kind of exfoliating do you do? Manual or acids? Your skin looks amazing!
